Commodities

Distribution of TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) food is on the third (3rd) Thursday of each month, throughout San Joaquin County. Food is provided to low-income persons who meet the federally established guidelines.

Donated food is distributed county-wide on a daily basis whenever it is available.

Eligibility:

Low income as established by the State Department of Social Services, and approved by the Federal Food and Nutrition Service.

Energy Services (HEAP)

Provides Outreach and Intake for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). HEAP assists low-income households to pay their energy costs. Assistance is in the form of a dual or single-party warrant, or a direct payment to the Utility Company on behalf of the applicant. The amount of assistance is based on the number of persons in the household, total household income, the cost of energy within the County the household resides in, and funding available. HEAP provides one payment per program year.

Eligibility:

1) Total household income must meet HEAP low-income guidelines.

Weatherization

Provides low-income persons (particularly elderly and disabled) home modifications to provide for adequate insulation and reduce residential energy use. Some Weatherization measures include: energy audit; carbon monoxide detector/alarm; glass replacement; minor dwelling envelope repairs; ceiling insulation; low flow showerheads; faucet restrictors; door weather-stripping; water heater blankets; caulking; other deemed necessary measures.

Eligibility:	At least one of the following:
	1) Aid to families with Dependent Children
	2) Supplemental Security Income (SSI/SSP)
	3) Food Stamps
	4) Household income equal or less than 150% of Federally-established poverty level
